The MIC Thurles Open Day on Saturday, 12 of November (10am -2pm), is an event not to be missed by aspiring post-primary school teachers. The event will introduce prospective applicants to the campuses existing subject combinations in Business Studies, Accounting, Religious Studies, Gaeilge, Mathematics and the newest addition to the MIC Thurles’ provision – Home Economics.
MIC Thurles Green Campus Charter - MIC was awarded a Green Flag for its Thurles campus in recognition of the efforts of students and staff who have successfully reduced waste throughout the campus, increased recycling, and raised awareness of environmental and sustainability issues amongst the student and staff population.
Mary Immaculate College and the Mathematical Resilience Network (MRN) Ireland branch will host a free one-day mathematics anxiety workshop for second level teachers and support staff on Saturday 9 March. The workshop is primarily aimed at teachers of mathematics and subjects involving mathematics such as science, engineering and technology, as well as support staff and teachers who encounter maths and stats anxiety in other fields.

Organised by MIC in collaboration with the MidWest Migrant Community Network (MMCN), the event will draw together educators, researchers, academics and multi-agency practitioners from Ireland alongside international educators who are interested in exploring how interagency collaboration can contribute to better support for diverse learners and their families in schools.

The free programme, designed and developed by Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), saw TY & 5th year students tasked with finding innovative solutions to some of the mobility challenges facing society. Now in its sixth year, the EMPOWER programme partnered with Jaguar Land Rover to give students a real hands-on approach to the tasks they faced.
