Mary Immaculate College is delighted to announce details of this year’s Alumni Reunion which will take place on Saturday 7 October 2023 from 2pm until 5pm.
Those who graduated from the classes of 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013 and 2018 are invited to return to MIC to reconnect with classmates, revisit the lecture halls and classrooms, and to explore archive materials, photos and books from down through the years.

Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is one of the six Irish Higher Education Institutions who have partnered together to form Ireland’s pioneering National Gender Identity & Expression Equality Champion Network for HEIs. The initiative is supported by ShoutOut, a charity working to create inclusive services and educational institutions.
Mary Immaculate College and the Gaelic Players Association are delighted to announce an extension to the MIC GPA Sports scholarship scheme. Originally introduced in 2021 for a three-year period the MIC GPA Sports Scholarship is open to Gaelic Players Association (GPA) members who are undertaking postgraduate study at MIC. Under the revised scheme, successful applicants can avail of fee waivers of up to €4,600 per annum.
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and The Hunt Museum have announced details of a culture and climate conference which is to take place in Limerick this February.
The Culture and Climate Action Conference, which will take place on Saturday 23 February, draws on the academic excellence in climate from MIC’s Geography Department and follows the Hunt Museum’s emphasis on showcasing Ireland’s pioneering spirit regarding renewable energy resources in its ongoing Night Candles are Burnt Out exhibition.
Mary Immaculate College and the Ambassador of Ireland to the USA, H.E. Geraldine Byrne Nason recently hosted a gathering of educational partners in Washington DC. Close to 100 guests were present at the event at the Ambassador’s residence, including the Presidents and representatives of MIC’s partner universities, who were also attending the annual meeting of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) in the American capital at that time.
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) has teamed up with digital skills specialists from Microsoft Dream Space to empower early year educators with the skills to inspire and engage children with technology, coding and robotics in a fun and interactive way. This important Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) education collaboration has been established under the Creative Arts and Future Technology (CRAFT) Maker Space with MIC’s Department of Enterprise & Community Engagement.
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and Tipperary Education and Training Board (ETB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to recognise existing cooperation between the two institutions and cement plans for further collaboration in the Further and Higher Education sector.
The Department of STEM Education in Mary Immaculate College (MIC) has collaborated with the University of Limerick (UL), and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) to bring the Limerick Festival of Science 2024 to audiences across Limerick and Clare.
The festival will run in venues across Limerick city and county, as well as county Clare throughout the month of November. This year’s festival, following the national Science Week theme of ‘Regeneration’ will present a range of activities and experiences to celebrate the role of science and STEM in the lives of people in the Mid-West region. The Limerick Festival of Science is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and part of Ireland’s Science Week (10-17 November 2024).
This year, events organised by the STEM Department in MIC will take place across two weeks in November. Teaching Fellow in STEM Education, Mairead Ryan, who coordinates the Limerick Festival of Science in Mary Immaculate College said she is delighted to launch such a broad programme of events: “The participation of staff and students across the MIC community is much appreciated, as this has helped to develop the diversity of events for public engagement, as well as the variety of interactive workshops for primary school and secondary school pupils in the coming weeks”.
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) are delighted to announce that two talented musicians, Róisín Ní Chonchúir and Catherine Joyce, have been awarded the inaugural Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship.
Professor Niamh Stack has been announced as the new Head of Psychology at Mary Immaculate College (MIC). The Clare native takes up the position at an exciting time for the discipline at MIC as the College welcomes the first students on the new Bachelor of Science in Psychology this September. Professor Stack joins MIC following a two-decade long spell at Scotland’s University of Glasgow, where she latterly served as Director of Teaching and Learning in the School of Psychology & Neuroscience.
