Training Opportunities

About

MIC is committed to provide direct student-facing activities including workshop/classes that promote an understanding of consent, healthy relationships and bystander intervention - student understanding and skills for speaking up and calling out unacceptable behaviour. MlC has also created and implemented an education plan to ensure all staff and relevant students have at least a minimal agreed understanding and capacity to support students.

Thank you for supporting us in our effort for a cross campus, all of community response to the issue of sexual harassment and violence.

The Bystander Programme and the Active* Consent Programme is available to staff and students on MIC Moodle. Please contact the EDII Office for the enrolment key - email EDII@mic.ul.ie.

The Bystander Intervention Programme

The Bystander Intervention Programme adapted from UCC is aimed to highlight the danger of normalising and accepting abusive behaviour and through education, inform and empower programme participants to better understand their capacity to intervene as pro-social bystanders. This programme is available on MIC Moodle.

There is a discount at the Shop in MISU of 10% of selected MIC merchandise when you present your Certificate of Completion.

This training is delivered online over four modules, is self-directed and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. We would like you to invite you to take part in this pilot delivery of the UCC Bystander Intervention training, which you can access through the link below. We will arrange to receive your feedback upon completion (or whatever your plan is at MIC).

The Active* Consent (UG) Programme

The Active* Consent programme supports young people and those that are important to them (teachers, parents, college staff and policy makers) in building their knowledge of consent as a key component of positive sexual health and well-being. For more information about the Active* Consent Programme on the University of Galway website, click here.

The Consent Hub

The Consent Hub was launched in January 2022 and is the first-ever publicly available online national resource on consent awareness and learning in Ireland.

The hub was developed by Active Consent (University of Galway) in partnership with the Department of Justice and the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation & Science.

The hub hosts a variety of consent educational tools and awareness-raising resources, including an eLearning module on sexual violence and harassment; a staff awareness video; answers to frequently asked questions on consent; and more. Visit the Consent Hub here.
