Michelle Dillon is a Lecturer in Physical Education in the Dept. of Arts Education and Physical Education at Mary Immaculate College. Before joining Mary Immaculate College in 2021 Michelle was a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Leeds Beckett University (UK). Prior to working in the UK, Michelle held previous academic positions at Dublin City University and the University of Limerick. Michelle has also worked as a manager and instructor in the outdoor and adventure sector; she holds an array of NGB qualifications in sports such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, hillwalking, orienteering, archery etc. Michelle has taught young people in the secondary sector, while has also worked with both primary and secondary school teachers on professional development courses. Michelle has a wealth of nation and international teaching experience having taught in Ireland, Japan, India, Sierra Leone and England. Michelle's PhD research was focused on understanding influences for student teachers' in learning to teach outdoor and adventure education curricula during teacher education and in turn their school placement experiences. Michelle also completed a Master's in Interactive Media in the University of Limerick, with her undergraduate degree being a degree in Fine Art from Limerick School of Art and Design.
