Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology (MI003) is four-year honours degree (level 8). The programme focuses on applications of Psychology and is an excellent choice for anyone interested in understanding why people think, feel and behave as they do. This research-led programme encourages critical thinking, problem-solving and digital skills, and we encourage students on the programme to aspire to be the creators, rather than just consumers of knowledge.
A unique feature of the programme is the calendar year spent studying Psychology in the workplace. The spring semester of Year 2 and the autumn semester of Year 3 are spent studying organisational psychology in practice.
Psychology graduates enjoy some of the best career opportunities across the globe. Upon graduation you may decide to continue studying Psychology at postgraduate level or seek a career as a Psychologist in areas such as clinical, educational, coaching, counselling, forensic, health, academia, neuropsychology, work/organisational, or sport.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts (MI002) is a four-year honours degree (level 8), which allows you to combine the study of Psychology with another arts subject. You can choose from 14 subjects on the BA programme, including Business Studies, Geography, Drama & Theatre Studies, History, Music and more.
In Year 1, you will study four subjects and in Year 2 you will focus on two of these subjects, which you will then study to degree level. In Year 3, you will spend the autumn semester studying abroad in Europe, Australia or the USA, or on work placement in a wide variety of settings, in Ireland or abroad.

B Ed in Education and Psychology
The B Ed in Education and Psychology (MI008) is a four-year double honours degree (level 8) in Primary Teaching and Psychology. This programme qualifies you as a primary teacher but also provides you with a degree in Psychology.
The programme, which is now in its 20th year, is particularly suitable for, although not confined to, students who may wish to undertake postgraduate study in Educational Psychology. Psychology is studied throughout the four years and the complimentary nature of Education and Psychology degrees within this programme adds to the quality of the degree and the excellence of its students and graduates.
As part of the programme you will spend 24 weeks in primary schools from Year 1 to Year 4. School placement will enable you to experience all class levels and a range of school types, and throughout your four-year degree you will be guided and empowered to become the teacher you have always dreamt of being.
