The MIC Senior Camogie team has brought the Purcell Cup back to the College after a decade, emerging as 2025 champions against University of Limerick with a score-line of 1-17 to 2-12.
The final at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence last weekend was thrilling by all accounts—particularly the second half, when MIC came from four points down at half time to level the match. UL scored two goals in the second half, but the MIC outfit kept their composure and battled to the very end.
MIC has won the Purcell Cup (Division 2) seven times in total, last in 2015 and holds the honour of being the inaugural winners in 1977. The cup was donated by Úna Uí Phuirséil, President of the Camogie Association 1976–78, and her husband Pádraig Puirséil, Gaelic Games correspondent for the Irish Press from 1954 to 1978.
Congratulations to all involved including players, coaches, mentors and backroom staff.
