Meet our MIC International Student Ambassadors

Five international students who will be acting as student ambassadors this semester.

MIC International Student Ambassador Programme

We are excited to announce the launch of the MIC International Student Ambassador Programme for the very first time this Autumn 2024 semester! This dynamic initiative, led by the International Office, will see five exceptional students from around the world take on the role of representing MIC’s vibrant international community. These ambassadors will share their unique perspectives on life as an international student, offering insights into their experiences at the college and their adventures in Limerick. Over the coming weeks, they will provide a behind-the-scenes look at what makes MIC a welcoming and diverse place to study. Stay tuned as they bring their stories to life and help future students discover what it truly means to be part of the MIC family!

Nguyễn Vũ Hương Mai

I am Mai, visiting Ireland for the first time to pursue the MEd in Digital Leadership in Education. I come from Vietnam, a country around 4 times the size of Ireland but 25 times its population, so you can imagine how different it is there. I hope everybody gets to visit my country one day to experience the exciting differences, as well as enjoy our gorgeous sceneries, lovely people and world's finest cuisine. That is also what I came to Ireland for - an adventure, no less.

Do you know that feeling when you have a good buy, something that pleases you immensely, and all you want to do is gush about it to the world and leave incredible reviews everywhere and change people's lives by telling them to buy it? That's how I feel about international experiences.

I have been on different sides of them, from completing an exchange semester abroad and welcoming international friends to working as a staff at RMIT University Vietnam's International Office. Thus, I understand deeply how it can positively affect one's outlook on life and personal development. Taking on the International Student Ambassador position at MIC is my attempt at spreading the word about my good buy and hopefully changing someone's life. Whenever you are in the mood for an honest review, look no further than me.

Stephanie Gonzalez

My name is Stephanie Gonzalez, I am a Mexican American 22-year-old from the Windy City of Chicago, Illinois in the United States! I am currently a fourth-year student finishing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English at MIC as well as extremely excited to be a member of this semester's International Student Ambassador Program.

Exploring diverse cultures and creating relationships around the world has always been a powerful desire of mine and am lucky enough to be able to make it a reality here at Mary I. My hope in being a student ambassador is to provide as much insight and ease as possible to future students and travelers looking to take a leap in delving into everything different countries and people have to offer.

Julia Nimat Allah

Hello! My name is Julia Nimat Allah, I am a 23-year-old Palestinian, living in Jerusalem, Israel. I have been studying Early Childhood Care and Education at Mary Immaculate college for two years now and will be shortly starting my third year. The past two years have been the best of my life! Offering me the chance to connect with a diverse international community and make memories that will last a lifetime.

I am also thrilled to take part of the international ambassador program this semester, because it is a unique opportunity to give back to the community that has welcomed and supported me throughout my journey. Being an ambassador allows me to connect with new international students, share the insights I have gained from my own experiences, and help them navigate the challenges of studying abroad. I am passionate about building a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels at home.

Solimar Patriota Silva

Hi! I am Solimar Silva, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I arrived in Limerick two weeks ago and I am very glad to share a little bit of my perspectives as an International post-grad student at Mary Immaculate College. I have been a teacher both in public and private schools, from primary to tertiary levels, for almost three decades. It is an honor to receive the scholarship from my country with 27 other teachers from twenty different states of Brazil and become a student in a very prestigious college to develop my leadership and mentoring skills in educational settings.

I am a mother of a fourteen-year-old boy who supported me all the way through the application and gave me faith that I could accomplish this goal. I will be nine months away from him, but I know I am leaving him a legacy of hard work, discipline, focus, and dedication when it comes to making our dreams come true. I was excited about becoming an International Student Ambassador because I love meeting new people and learning from different cultures and point of views. I also like to share what I learn. So, I saw this opportunity to contribute to others while learning. And learning while contributing.

Annemarie (Rie) Menche

Hi! I’m Rie from Germany, 21 years old and very excited to attend MIC. I study to become a high school teacher for the subjects English and German. The student reports of former international students about Ireland and MIC convinced me to plan my stay abroad here, as I have been charmed by the culture, nature, and great programme of the college.

I hope that as an ambassador I can explore and reflect on my stay in Ireland at large and be part of giving MIC the publicity to inspire and encourage future and current international students during their stay in Limerick.
