Wired FM
With the support of the lecturers in the Department of Media and Communications Studies, a successful bid was made to the Independent Radio and Television Commission for a Community of Interest Licence to broadcast and so Wired 99.9FM came to be.
A fully-licensed community radio station, the station broadcasts daily during the academic year. Beginning as a single studio space in Mary Immaculate College, the station now boasts three studios across MIC and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). Over 100 student volunteers are involved in broadcasting each week, in every level from broadcasting, production, research and technical support. Notable graduates of Wired FM include RTÉ's Jacqui Hurley, Cian McCormack and Ian McGlynn; screenwriter and television producer, Colm Tobin, and filmmaker, Michelle Ryan.
