St Patrick’s College, Thurles
In September Minister for Education & Skills, Minister Jan O’Sullivan TD announced the incorporation by MIC of St Patrick’s College, Thurles.
At the time of the announcement, MIC Thurles, as it is now known, offered four concurrent teacher education programmes, designed to prepare students to become second-level teachers and had a total student population of 186. Today, it offers seven undergraduate programmes in the following subject areas: Gaeilge, Mathematics, Theology and Religious Studies, Accounting, Home Economics and Business Studies with an undergraduate student population of 570. MIC Thurles also introduced a postgraduate offering in the area of middle leadership with 50 students currently enrolled on the programme.
