Limerick, 18 Oct.

1896

Gentlemen,

I beg to apply for a licence for a Training College for Female national School Teachers for the Catholic Religion which I propose to establish in this city.

I believe that the College of Our Lady of Mercy, Dublin is not equal to the supply of our needs and on the other hand, this city which is the centre of railway lines running into counties of Clare, Tipperary, Kerry, Cork and Waterford is well situated for the purpose.  Should you sanction this proposal, inform me as to the steps for obtaining a building loan for the College.

I have the honour to be etc.

Signed: Edward Thomas

Bishop of Limerick.
