Wellbeing Research for Education Conference 2025
We are delighted to announce a one-day Wellbeing Conference on Saturday 7 June 2025 in Limerick MIC. The theme and title of the conference is 'Well what? Interrogating wellbeing across the education continuum'.

About the Conference
Conference Theme: 'Well what? Interrogating wellbeing across the education continuum'
The theme of the conference deliberately seeks to challenge the idea and associations of the construct of 'wellbeing' in an educational context, and asks a question about what does it really mean for us as teachers, educators and society in general. It raises so many questions for us when we use this phrase, and various images and notions associated with ‘wellbeing’. The idea and desire of 'being well' in every possible way is a fundamental part of our daily lives, and there are so many instances in society and the world which demonstrate the power and wonder of the human person in their interactions and undertakings.
Across all educational sectors, from early years to third level and beyond, we are aware of the importance of ‘wellbeing’ but what does it actually mean when we consider it in practice?
This conference seeks to bring together anyone who has an interest in ‘wellbeing’, including teachers, lecturers, research students (both undergraduate and post graduate), who may have completed research in this area, student teachers, and any interested parties, who wish to share their own thoughts, views, and even personal research findings. It is an opportunity to reflect and engage in dialogue.
- Where: Mary Immaculate College
- When: Tuesday 30 September - Thursday 2 October, 2025
Conference registration will open in April 2025.
Call for Proposals
'The conference approach emphasises participation and the sharing of wellbeing ideas and experiences. The conference will include keynote and paper presentations, workshops and poster displays. We particularly welcome current research, and/or examples of innovative pedagogies, materials and classroom practices/experiences at early childhood, primary, post-primary, further and higher education.
The call for papers, posters and workshop proposals is now open.
Submissions reflecting the latest research, theory and practice within wellbeing are welcome. Applicants may indicate the types of input they feel would most appropriately respond to their abstract (e.g. academic paper, workshop, poster, etc.) and are encouraged to consider interactive and reflective forms of presentation, where their material lends itself to these approaches. Posters will also be welcome for display, particularly from student teachers and newly-qualified teachers. All abstract proposals will be blind reviewed by a committee selected by the Wellbeing Conference organising committee. Please indicate in your email whether your abstract refers to a paper, workshop or poster. Abstracts should be between 200 and 300 words in length.
