MIC FemFest 2025
MIC FemFest is a biannual festival run by a committee comprising members of academic, professional services and student communities.

On 10 March 2025, in celebration of FemFest 2025, Booker Prize winning author Bernardine Evaristo was interviewed by award-winning broadcaster and journalist, Ciana Campbell, at MIC Limerick Campus.
British writer Bernardine Evaristo is the author of ten books and numerous writings that span the genres of fiction, verse fiction, short fiction, non-fiction, poetry, essays, literary criticism, journalism, and radio and theatre drama. Bernardine’s novel Girl, Woman, Other won the Booker Prize 2019. She was the first black woman and black British person to win it in its fifty-year history. Her 2013 novel, Mr Loverman, was released in 2025 as an eight-part BBC drama.

MIC FemFest 2024

The festival consists of a schedule of events celebrating the social, cultural and economic achievements of women. It also seeks to highlight the many challenges still experienced by women, with a view to stimulating dialogue around the ways in which these challenges might be addressed.
MIC FemFest 2024 ran over three days from 5-7 March across the MIC Limerick and Thurles campuses.

MIC Femfest 2023

On 8 March 2023, to celebrate International Women's Day, MIC FemFest hosted a public lecture by internationally renowned feminist author Sara Ahmed, Travelling with Feminist Killjoys.

MIC Femfest 2022

FemFest made a welcome return for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic on 7 March 2022; Celebrating the achievements of Irish women at FemFest 2022.
The week-long event, held at MIC’s Limerick campus, showcased and celebrated the works of Irish women at a national, regional, local and institutional level. The week-long line up was born of cooperation between staff and students, as well as external academics and community groups, and delivered something of interest to everyone.

MIC FemFest 2019

The inaugural FemFest at Mary Immaculate College tool place on 5-15 February.
The programme of events included musical and theatrical performances, art exhibitions, lectures, seminars on diverse topics such as women in the film and sports arenas, and much more.
