Student Life
Discover student life at MIC
Enriching the whole person is part of our mission at MIC, and students are encouraged to immerse themselves in student life to get a good balance between college work and recreational time.
Limerick City
MIC Limerick’s leafy 25-acre campus is located within 10 minutes walking distance of the social and cultural buzz of Limerick City centre. Situated in the southern suburbs of the city, the campus has easy access to all cultural and social amenities, as well as the main rail and bus terminus.
Thurles Town
MIC Thurles is situated right at the heart of Thurles town - a vibrant and prosperous town on the River Suir nestled in the beautiful Suir Valley.
MIC has two campuses, one in Limerick City and another in Thurles town, Co. Tipperary. Explore both campuses with our tour guides to get a sense of what each one has to offer.
Students automatically become members of MISU upon enrolment at MIC. In this video, James and Aisling show you around the Students' Union offices on the Limerick campus.
We take great pride in our wide selection of clubs and societies available for students to join. Find out how you can get involved.
Wired FM is your student radio station
A community station designed to cater for the third-level students of Limerick, Wired FM is always looking for volunteers who want to try their hand at student broadcasting. Look out for Wired FM studio in the Library building.
MIC has a vibrant tradition in the performing and visual arts. We strive to enrich the lives of students and staff through introducing art into the surroundings, hosting cultural events and fostering an atmosphere where the community can express itself.
Seirbhís thábhachtach eile i gCMgS is ea Oifigeach na Gaeilge a fheidhmíonn mar áisitheoir agus mar thacaíocht d’fhoireann agus do mhic léinn uile CMgS maidir le cur chun cinn agus le húsáid na Gaeilge i suíomh neamh-acadúil. Ní amháin go dtacaíonn ár nOifigeach Gaeilge, le cur chun cinn na Gaeilge ar fud an dá champas ach soláthraíonn sí comhairle agus cúnamh don gColáiste freisin maidir lena oibleagáidí faoi Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla 2003 maidir le seirbhísí Gaeilge a sholáthar don phobal. I rith na bliana acadúla tugann an Oifigeach Gaeilge cabhair don fhoireann le saincheisteanna teanga mar aon le himeachtaí a eagrú a chuireann an teanga chun cinn agus spreagfaimis gach mac léinn a bheith páirteach iontu beag beann ar a leibhéal Gaeilge. Ina measc seo tá imeachtaí sóisialta do mhic léinn (ócáidí Chumann Gaelach gan Smál mar shampla) agus don fhoireann (ceardlanna éagsúla agus, ar ndóigh, buaicphointe na féilire, Seachtain na Gaeilge). Feidhmíonn An Seomra Caidrimh ar champas CMgS Luimnigh mar phointe fócasach go leor de na gníomhaíochtaí seo.
MIC has a strong sporting tradition, with sport and recreation playing an important role in the lives of our students.
MIC has a proud sporting history. Students and alumni have represented club, county and country in various sports including GAA, rugby, athletics, handball, soccer, rowing and more. MIC has had outstanding victories in sport in the past few years. Many current and past students are playing at county level in Gaelic games and individuals are excelling in a number of sports at national and international level, including Róisín Upton (Irish Olympian hockey player, pictured), Ciara Griffin (Ireland women's rugby), and Amy O’Donoghue (middle-distance runner for Ireland), to name but a few. The MIC senior hurling team has won the Fitzgibbon Cup, the trophy for the premier hurling championship among higher education institutions in Ireland, twice. Our senior ladies football team has also been victorious in recent years and were crowned Giles Cup champions twice.
MIC is delighted to offer a number of sporting scholarships, bursaries and awards in recognition of the sporting excellence amongst our students including:
